About enterprise
Phils Heavy Engineering, Pvt. Ltd.
PHILS was recently awarded the contract by M/s. Engineers India Ltd. for manufacturing and supply of three columns for M/s. Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. for their PFCU Unit MRPL Phase III.
PHILS has concluded the contract successfully and delivered the three columns (four packages) to MRPL, Mangalore within the stipulated delivery period.
Due to the huge size and weight of these columns, the transportation was a major challenge to PHILS. Our expert team of professionals and technicians pre-planned the transportation, conducted feasibility study and examined the route to ensure that the equipment reaches MRPL safely.
Such project movement requires multimodal transportation involving use of sea and road route. All the four packages were transported by mode of road-barge-ship-road and moved towards the project site at MRPL.
PHILS constructed ro-ro jetty for the barging operation of the four packages. These packages were loaded on to the barge by roll-on operation by using hydraulic axles & were dispatched to Mumbai Port. The heaviest package weighed 285 T with a length of 49 metres and a height of 5.9 metres. The rest of the three packages weighed 250 T, 200 T and 175 T respectively with lengths of 48 metres and heights of 5.9 metres and 4.5 metres.
PHILS chartered a self-geared vessel and all four packages were successfully loaded on to the vessel at Mumbai Port. For the 285 T package, a barge was anchored alongside the ship for lifting the package and the rest of the packages were lifted from the port wharf to the ship.
The vessel reached New Mangalore Port in less than 30 hours despite the rough weather and unfavourable monsoon conditions. Discharge operation at New Mangalore Port was carried out successfully and all the four packages were unloaded at a safe destination inside the port around 100 metres away within a span of 10 hours.
One more feather in PHILS cap. This achievement has taken PHILS to an upper echelon in the Engineering Industry.
PHILS is proud of their logistic team who has achieved this distinction & PHILS, sincerely thank all officials & associate firms, who have contributed to make this project a ‘Grand Success’.
